NBA players during lockout

During the NBA lockout there has been a number of players who have decided to go overseas. Derion Williams has been saying that he will play overseas and has had a contract handed to him by a team in Turkey. If the lockout goes longer than expected, he will play this up coming year overseas, but he will not be the only player. Kobe Bryant has also spoke about playing overseas and will do so if the lockout is longer then he expects and if the team will meet up to his salary.
Athletes are made out to be celebrities in this world and what they do can help others. Right now Chris Paul and a number of other players are in the Philippines for a charity event to help the people who are struggling. Athletes in the media are normally known for their good acts or bad acts. Being held to a higher standard and doing whats right for others, is what athletes recently are known for doing. Not only will these NBA players play together, but they will play in a different country.

African American Civil War Muesem

There have been many African Americans who do not really know how important the civil war was for our freedom. The risk that many African American men took for the future and for their own lives was a strong decision. When black men served in the war and survived, they got the opportunity to be free and live without slavery. Unfortunately not many men survived and had the chance to be free.

As a African American college graduate from Morehouse University Frank Smith Jr understood how important it was to let other black people know how important the war was and how many men that had survived and actually were free from slavery. Today was the grand opening of new African American Museum and Memorial which was originally opened in 1998, but is now in a bigger building. This museum means a lot to the black community because it will give us a better understanding of what it took to become free.
